Andrew Robinson was Ambassador of Canada to Ukraine from 2001 to 2005, including during the Orange revolution. During his assignment in Ukraine he was actively involved in support of the rule of law and free and fair elections in Ukraine, as well as support for Canadian business and for a closer relationship between Ukraine and western institutions, including the WTO and NATO.
Mr. Robinson served as Ambassador of Canada to Jordan (1992-95) and has had earlier foreign assignments in Cairo, Beirut, London and Prague. He has also held senior positions in the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade relating to the Middle East, Africa and Peacekeeping. In 2005-2006 Mr. Robinson was Ambassador-in-residence at the Pearson Peacekeeping College.
Currently, he is a retired Canadian foreign service officer, and Distinguished Senior Fellow with the Norman Patterson School of International Affairs, Carleton University.
Andrew Robinson is a member of the executive of the National Capital Branch of the Canadian International Council, a member of the board of the Canada Ukraine Foundation. He lives in Ottawa, Ontario, where he is active in several community groups.
