Walter is a graduate of the University of Waterloo (1973) where he majored in Math and Computer Science. During his extensive career he served in senior management and executive positions with a number of large multinational companies, including as Senior Project Manager with Celestica, Regional Operations Manager with Xerox, Vice President and General Manager with Allied Van Lines, and Ukraine Country Manager with Seagram. Currently, Walter works for the Ontario Ministry of Government Services as Manager of Project Delivery. He is a certified Project Manager Professional and a member of the Project Management Institute.
From 2004 to 2006 Walter lived in Ukraine while managing a Canadian government CIDA foreign aid project aimed at helping strengthen the credit union system in Ukraine.
Walter has been active in Ukrainian organizations and the UNF specifically since his youth. In the 70’s he was elected National President of the UNYF and subsequently served on the national Board of Directors of the UNF. In the late 90’s he was elected Chairman of the Board of The New Pathway (Noviy Shliakh) newspaper and engineered the paper’s modernization and revival. He has been a regular columnist in the paper for over eight years. Walter is currently President of the Oshawa UNF Branch, as well as being active with the Toronto Ukrainian & Professional Businessman’s Association.
Aside from the CUF, he sits on the Board of Directors of the Ukrainian Credit Union and the New Pathway newspaper.
