Projects Under Consideration

The Canada Ukraine Foundation has under consideration two Ageements with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, one in the area of education, education exchange and Ukrainian language teaching, the other in the field of science and technology. It is envisioned that they will be signed in Canada during the State Visit of the President of Ukraine, Victor Yushchenko on May 26 - 28.

The first agreement, in the form of a Memorandum of Understanding, will deal with

• education cooperation and exchange between the two sides in its broadest sense
• student, graduate student, teacher, visiting professor, and research exchanges between the two countries
• fostering the learning of the Ukrainian language in Canadian educational institutions, and the English and French languages in Ukraine
• joint conferences, symposiums, awards, honoraria and competitions.

The second agreement, to be entered into with the State Fund for Fundamental Research in Ukraine will assist the Ukrainian side to gain access to Canadian universities and technology and research centres, with the view of creating joint research projects, including the funding of them, between these Canadian and Ukrainian centres of excellence, and will include the twinning of universities and S&T centres between the two countries, the exchange of visiting professors and scientific collaboration between the scientists of both countries."
