Election Observation Mission Leaders Meet
Kyiv – Volunteer observers began arriving in Ukraine on Monday, less than a week ahead Election Day. The leadership of the Canada Ukraine Foundation’s Election Mission, organized in association with the Ukrainian Canadian Congress, met with observation team leaders in Kyiv on Monday.
Team leaders Natalia Toroshenko, Oksana Rewa, Norbert Iwan and Andriy Semotiuk met with Mission head Bohdan Onyschuk and Chief observer Yarema Bachynsky for a planning session that lasted into the night. They went over everything from observer deployment strategies to video taping techniques to advice on how not get ripped off by cab drivers.
The Monday night meeting was more of a strategic planning session. The finer details of observation will be covered in training sessions for all observers on Tuesday. Observation teams will begin leaving the capital city for Ukraine’s countryside on Wednesday.
