The H1N1 virus (Swine Flu) Update

The H1N1 virus (Swine Flu) continues to rage through Ukraine with 21 of the 24 Oblasts now reporting a pandemic level. The total number of people infected with the flu has now reached in excess of 1.3 million with close to 70,000 people hospitalized. More than 50,000 new cases are being reported every day, with some 4,000 being hospitalized. Since Oct. 29, 265 people have died from the flu or subsequent complications. Although medical supplies and aid is starting to flow into Ukraine , the situation is still far from being under control, and more assistance is urgently needed.

In the 9 Western Oblasts, almost all public places like Univeristies, schools, business are closing and telling people to stay at home. People on the streets are in masks, in Pharmacies lines to buy masks and other medications.
