On Friday, May 29, CUF’s 30th Anniversary Gala will bring together donors, partners, and friends for an evening of reflection and recommitment at Arcadian Court in Toronto. The event will feature a cocktail reception, dinner, and music—and at its heart, a conversation that speaks to this extraordinary moment in history.
We are excited to announce that Natalka Cmoc, Ambassador of Canada to Ukraine, will moderate the evening’s featured conversation with Margaret Atwood.
Few people are better placed to lead this dialogue about democracy, power, and identity.
Ambassador Cmoc, who was appointed in August 2023, has spent her career at the intersection of Canadian foreign policy and Ukraine—from democracy and human rights programming in Kyiv to helping establish Canada’s security presence following Russia’s 2014 invasion.
She currently hosts the podcast Off the Record on Kyiv Post’s YouTube channel.

This discussion is made possible thanks to our event’s Conversation Partner, the Temerty Foundation.
