Holodomor National Awareness Tour – FullTime Facilitator Contract Position

The Holodomor National Awareness Tour is seeking a selfmotivated candidate for the position of Facilitator for the Holodomor Mobile Classroom
(HMC). The HMC is an RV that has been redesigned into a state-of-the-art interactive learning environment that travels to schools and community events across Canada engaging people about the Holodomor. The Facilitator is a unique position in which the incumbent will deliver prepared, interactive lessons to high school, and occasionally university students about the Holodomor genocide, and engage the public by answering their questions about the Holodomor and or genocide in general and by showing short documentary films about the Holodomor onboard the HMC when participating in community events. The successful candidate will be dedicated, reliable, outgoing, have excellent communication skills. Proficiency in the history of the Holodomor, the Ukrainian famine, that occurred in Ukraine under Soviet rule in the 1930s is needed.

Expectations

  • Proficiency with Mac OS
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Quick problem solver and is comfortable troubleshooting Audio Visual, tablet, and computer issues as they arise
  • Ability to multi-task, while maintaining above-average attention to detail
  • Is an articulate and engaging public speaker who will be the professional representative of the Holodomor National Awareness Tour to schools and communities throughout Canada
  • Comfortable teaching and engaging students and the public
  • Able to communicate and answer questions about the Holodomor and other genocides that arise from students, adults and media
  • Conduct “Open Mic” at community events for posting on social media
  • Work comfortably in a small team environment
  • Is a self-starter and a quick study
  • Travel for extensive periods throughout Canada
  • Has personal means of transportation to get to schools and community events as required
  • Must be able to work evening and weekends as reequired
  • Will communicate with teachers as required and provide them with daily feedback after school visits
  • Will distribute questionnaires to all teachers who bring students on board the HMC
  • Will assist in maintaining the HMC in a clean condition
  • Will assist in reviewing social media content and contribute to its and the website’s enhancement
  • Will assist in the office during non-travel/facilitating periods as directed
  • Will assist in the compilation of articles for CUF Newsletters, e-newsletters and e-bulletins
  • Will participate in media interviews when required
  • Will keep track of personal expenses incurred while travelling and submit them in timely expense reports
  • Will fulfill other tasks as directed

Assets

  • English; Bilingual (French) and Ukrainian an asset
  • Ontario (or other Provincial) Teaching Certification

Job Location:

  • Toronto, ON with expected travel throughout Canada

Required license or certification:

  • Bachelor of Arts Degree (Philosophy, English, Cultural Studies, History, Ukrainian History)
  • Driver’s License

Salary Expectations:

  •  $5,400.00 per month
