Through the support of the Government of Canada, Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) Program, the Canada-Ukraine Foundation (CUF) will be hiring a number of summer staff in the General Toronto Area.

The positions will be working out of the CUF head office located at 620 Spadina Ave, Toronto, ON. CUF adheres to all public health guidelines and directives from federal, provincial and local authorities and will apply these guidelines to the CSJ conditions of employment.  The length of the terms will be for a period of 12 weeks for 30 hours per week starting in June 2021.

The deadline for submission of applications is Friday May 28, 2021 and must include a resume and cover letter indicating why the applicant is interested in working with the Canada-Ukraine Foundation. The wage rate for our positions will be $18.25 per hour. 

CUF has three positions to be filled: 

  • Marketing Coordinator
  • Administrative Assistant – Archive/Data management
  • Administrative Assistant – Fundraising/Grant preparation

Job Descriptions:

Marketing Coordinator

Marketing Coordinator will work with CUF Executive administrator and designated board members to:

  • Prepare all aspects regarding Canada-Ukraine Foundation 25th Anniversary programming
  • Prepare framework for quarterly Newsletter, detailing content, format and coordinating relevant input from CUF programming committees
  • Review CUF website content and suggest improvements/updates
  • Work with webmaster to ensure that website is informative and relevant and corresponds with CUF’s strategic objectives
  • Draft news releases for CUF supported projects
  • Complete brand manual, including creation of letterhead, PowerPoint template and brand guidelines
  • Create annual calendar of events for weekly social media plan (all annual events, holidays, anniversaries, commemorations); this will be the static portion of the communications plan, to be augmented by the organic content from committees/programs

Administrative Assistants will work with CUF Executive administrator and designated board members to:

  • Prepare presentations and speaking notes detailing CUF operations
  • Update donor mailing lists and search for new donors and fundraising opportunities
  • Search for available government grants and prepare/submit applications as appropriate
  • Maintain Project and Stakeholder databases
  • Digitization of corporate and governance documents and establishment of an electronic filing system
  • Developing a catalogue system for archival documents
  • Drafting templates for standard correspondence, establishing call forward system for insurance policies, agreements and government reporting
  • Monitoring adherence to Canada-Ukraine Foundation Strategic Plan
  • Organization of the CUF office area, procurement of office supplies
  • Assisting programming and functional committees with their administrative requirements


  • Experience working with community organizations and individuals 
  • Skilled use of digital technology 
  • Excellent communication, customer service and organizational skills
  • Self-starter, works well in a team environment
  • Ability to multi-task and problem solve
  • Fluency in English and proficiency in Ukrainian essential

To be eligible, applicant must*:

  • between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment 
  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment 
  • have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
