We also want to share some exciting news. Ukrainian veteran Vladyslav “Shatya” Shatilo, the hero of the film Second Wind, has received an official invitation from the Toronto Marathon to take part in this year’s race in May. This is one of the largest sporting events in Canada, traditionally attracting significant attention from the media and the global sports community.

For Vladyslav, this is not just participation in a marathon. It is an opportunity to draw attention to Ukrainian veterans, to demonstrate their strength and resilience, and to remind the world about Ukraine through sport, character, and presence on a major international stage. As part of the race, meetings with national media and local running clubs are planned. We believe it is important to allow this opportunity to be fully realized.

In each city, right after the screenings, the audience will have an opportunity to participate in Q&A session with the film co-producer Oleksandr Pedan and the film protagonist Vladyslav “Shatya” Shatilo – a live conversation about the journey, strength, challenges, and what stands behind the story of the film.

The screenings in Canada have a charitable purpose. Proceeds from ticket sales and special charity auctions will be directed to supporting the rehabilitation of Ukrainian veterans through the Canada-Ukraine Foundation, which provides comprehensive physical and mental rehabilitation for Ukrainian heroes.

Thank you to everyone who has already purchased tickets. Your support is a sign of trust, and we truly value it. All purchased tickets remain valid. If you are unable to attend the screening on the new date, please contact us at [email protected], and we will assist you with a ticket refund.

Looking forward to seeing you in movie theatres across Canada in May!

About the Canada-Ukraine Foundation

Founded in 1995 during the 18th Ukrainian Canadian Congress, the Canada-Ukraine Foundation (CUF) was established to coordinate, develop, and deliver humanitarian assistance from Canadians to Ukraine. CUF continues to play a vital role as a national charitable foundation, working to monitor, promote, and support humanitarian aid initiatives. Its mission includes evaluating projects, fostering collaboration among aid providers, setting strategic priorities, and ensuring resources are directed where they can have the greatest impact. CUF also serves as a forum for individuals and organizations—across community, private, and public sectors—committed to supporting Ukraine. In addition to its work abroad, CUF also supports related initiatives within Canada.
