In a community on the outskirts of Kharkiv, Russia’s war shows up daily in unexpected and relentless ways. The power goes out, impacting even the most essential services.
For hours at a time, families are left without light, without heat, without certainty of when it will return. But life needs to continue despite regular power outages because it has to. 🎥 Watch the short video below.
In 2022, this community was partially occupied by Russia’s troops. It was liberated within a month, but the instability never left. Today, outages lasting three, four, even six hours are part of daily life.
At the centre of this community is a House of Culture. Once a gathering place, it is now a critical hub for humanitarian & medical aid, supporting families, children, and those most affected by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
With support from the CUF-UCC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal, a solar power station now keeps this centre running, even during outages. This is what your support makes possible. People can rely on a place that does not shut down when everything else does.
A special thank-you for our supporters
