In hard-to-reach areas across Ukraine, access to medical diagnostics can mean the difference between timely treatment and tragedy. That’s why through the joint CUF-UCC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal we partnered with BCU Foundation and the Tryzub Gala Foundation, to provide 90 handheld Butterfly iQ+ ultrasound devices and 90 iPads to the Centre for Disaster Medicine of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
Portable diagnostic devices transforming how mobile medical units deliver care
Using advanced Ultrasound-on-Chip™ technology, each compact system connects to an iPad to provide real-time imaging for cardiac, abdominal, vascular, pulmonary, and musculoskeletal examinations. Healthcare providers can now bring hospital-quality diagnostics directly to patients in areas where traditional medical facilities are damaged, destroyed, or simply too far away.
Critical technology
Years of Russian missile attacks have devastated Ukraine’s medical infrastructure, leaving countless communities without adequate access to diagnostic services. Mobile medical units equipped with these portable ultrasound systems can now reach patients who would otherwise go without essential care, enabling timely diagnosis and ongoing monitoring in field-based settings.
On behalf of the Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Center of Emergency and Disaster Medicine, a division of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, we express our sincere gratitude for the transfer of these portable Butterfly iQ+ ultrasound systems.
These devices will be used both at our institution and distributed among emergency medical centres across Ukraine’s regions. They will be deployed by teams transporting critically ill patients over long distances, enabling rapid diagnostics and timely assessment of patients’ conditions during transport. We are also offering training for medical personnel to ensure proper and effective use.
Thank you for supporting Ukrainian medical professionals and strengthening the capacity of the emergency medical and disaster medicine system in Ukraine.

About the Tryzub Gala Foundation
The Tryzub Gala Foundation was created by The Myhal Family Foundation who saw a need to unify our community across Canada to celebrate the accomplishments of those who have achieved success in their chosen fields, have worked in support of Ukraine, Ukrainian causes, the Ukrainian-Canadian community and Canada overall. Its aspiration remains to reach the entire Ukrainian-Canadian diaspora to celebrate the recipients, use the raised funds to support numerous causes that reflect the daily lives and interests of Canadian Ukrainians, and continue to assist the needs of Ukrainians who have fled the war. Its partnerships with charitable organizations across Canada enable it to support grassroots charities that would otherwise struggle to meet community needs. The 2026 Tryzub Gala will take place on May 7.
