Join us for an unforgettable evening at CUF’s 30th Anniversary Gala
On Friday, May 29, the Canada-Ukraine Foundation (CUF) will mark its 30th Anniversary Gala with an evening of reflection, dialogue, and recommitment at Toronto’s Arcadian Court.

A conversation with Margaret Atwood moderated by Ambassador Natalka Cmoc
Acclaimed Canadian author Margaret Atwood will join Natalka Cmoc, Ambassador of Canada to Ukraine, for a discussion exploring some of the defining issues of our time: democracy and identity, the shared challenges facing Ukraine and Canada, the role of women in shaping societies and leadership, and the remarkable inventiveness and resilience emerging from Ukraine in a time of war.
Margaret Atwood, whose work has been published in more than forty-five countries, is the author of more than fifty books of fiction, poetry, critical essays, and graphic novels. As Canada’s Ambassador to Ukraine since 2023, Natalka Cmoc brings a unique perspective shaped by decades of engagement in the region and her experience in Canadian foreign policy.
This unique conversation will offer a rare opportunity to hear two of Canada’s thoughtful and compelling voices reflect on democracy, culture, resilience, and the values that connect Canadians and Ukrainians at this pivotal moment in history.
This discussion is made possible with the generous support of CUF’s 30th Anniversary Gala Conversation Partner, the Temerty Foundation.
