When Canadian Values Meet Ukrainian Courage: A Story from Ontario’s Wine Country

In the heart of Ontario’s Niagara region, where vineyards roll toward Lake Ontario’s shores, Featherstone Estate Winery embodies the very best of Canadian generosity.

When Rayla and George Myhal acquired this celebrated winery, they acquired more than business acumen—they brought a heartfelt commitment to uplifting communities, both here at home and around the world, through the Myhal Family Foundation.

This past winter, as Ukrainians endured their darkest hours with relentless attacks on destroying power infrastructure, Featherstone Estate Winery stepped forward with extraordinary Canadian compassion.

Long-time supporters of the Canada-Ukraine Foundation, Rayla and George Myhal understood exactly what was at stake.

Their remarkable $1 million contribution to our Power Up Ukraine campaign became a lifeline, keeping lights on and the heat flowing in vulnerable communities when Ukraine went dark.

This is what happens when Canadian values turn into action—when a family-owned business from wine country decides that freedom and human rights are worth defending, no matter the distance.

The Myhals pledge to donate 10% of their winery’s profits to local charities in the Niagara region, proving that Canadian generosity flows as naturally as the wines they craft. Their leadership reminds us that from sea to sea, Canadians understand that our prosperity means nothing if we don’t share it with those fighting for the very freedoms we celebrate.

Let the Myhal Family Foundation and Featherstone Estate Winery inspire your own act of Canadian generosity.

Join them in showing Ukraine—and the world—what our maple leaf truly represents.
